Have you ever seen someone else do something in QLab and wondered how? Do you know QLab, but feel like there’s another layer of knowledge that you’re not sure how to explore? Is there a QLab question you’re just dying to ask? This class is for you. Using questions submitted in advance by YOU as a starting point, this symposium is a Q&A, how-to, gee-I-never-imagined-QLab-could-do-THAT bonanza. Attendees are encouraged but not required to bring their own Mac (macOS 11 or newer, Apple Silicon recommended.)

This class will provide an overview and discussion of the video features of QLab 5 with an emphasis on using QLab in a live theatrical context. We’ll explore QLab’s cueing features like live effects, blend modes, and live camera input, as well as QLab’s output structure supporting multiple displays, NDI streaming, edge-blending, and raster slicing. We’ll also touch on QLab’s show control features (MIDI, MSC, OSC, and timecode) and collaboration tools. Attendees are encouraged but not required to bring their own Mac (macOS 11 or newer, Apple Silicon recommended.) No previous experience with QLab is necessary, but a familiarity will be helpful.
