Join us for an Intro to Vectorworks, a 2-hour virtual course covering the basics of Vectorworks, one of the industry-standard programs for drafting in entertainment. Participants will learn the fundamentals of two-dimensional drafting, including program navigation, basic tool use, drawing, layers and classes, as well as plating and printing.

Instructor Bio: Stoli Stolnack (he/they) is an NYC-based lighting associate, working with designers such as Amith Chandrashaker, Japhy Weideman, Oona Curley, and many others. USA 829 is forming our next Contract Action Team (CAT) for our upcoming Majors negotiation, and we want YOU to be part of it! This workshop, led by your MOPIC Business Representatives, is designed to introduce and explain the ins and outs of the Majors Agreement, as we prepare for our 2027 negotiations. The session will provide an overview of the agreement, guidance on how to read and navigate the contract, highlight key terms and provisions, and offer time to answer any questions you may have.

Member Orientation is a lively, welcoming session where all members—new and seasoned—can come together to connect, learn, and build community. It’s a great refresher if it’s been a while, or a perfect starting point if you’re just getting involved.
We’ll cover the essentials every member should know, including:
Your rights and responsibilities as a member
How to access and use your benefits
Working under a union contract
Navigating the USA 829 website and member resources
You’ll also have time to ask questions, connect with other members, and hear directly from union staff about how USA 829 supports you and your craft.

No matter their design category or role on the production, union stewards serve as the eyes and ears of the union at the workplace through which we can address issues and safeguard our contract. This training includes the who, what, where, when, why, and how of being a union steward, accountability structures and appointment procedures, insights into the rights and roles of stewards, new communication tools, and a microsite.
