We’re excited to sit down and talk with legendary USA 829 Designer Heidi Ettinger. Her career as a Scenic Designer and Producer has spanned Broadway, Off-Broadway, Regional, and International productions. She has designed ‘night Mother, Big River, The Secret Garden, Smokey Joe’s CafĂ©, Moon Over Buffalo, Triumph of Love, and many other productions. Heidi is a long-time collaborator with playwrights Marsha Norman and Wendy Wasserstein and directors James Lapine, Susan H. Schulman, and Des McAnuff
She was the first woman to ever win a Tony Award for Scenic Design, an honor that she received after her design of Big River in 1985. In addition to her Tony Award, she has received seven Tony nominations, an Obie Award, the Ruth Morley Design Award, and multiple Drama Desk Awards. She was also featured in the Curtain Call exhibit, which celebrated women designing in Live Performance, at the Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts
