Beverly Emmons has designed for Broadway, Off-Broadway, and regional theater, dance, and opera. Her Broadway credits include Annie Get Your Gun, Jekyll & Hyde, The Heiress, Amadeus, Elephant Man, A Night in the Ukraine, and The Dresser. She has been a frequent collaborator with Joseph Chaikin, Meredith Monk, and Robert Wilson. In the world of dance, her designs have included works for Lucinda Childa, Trisha Brown, Martha Graham, and Merce Cunningham. Her recognitions include seven Tony nominations, the 1976 Lumen Award, a 1980 Obie, and, most recently, the Ming Cho Lee Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Henry Hewes Design Awards.
An advocate for making historical lighting documents accessible to all — Beverly has created and curated The Lighting Archive, which maintains a digital collection of actual plots, focus charts, and cue sheets from real shows for Lighting Designers around the world.
