The Eastern Region Outreach Committee is now seeking donations and volunteers for the Local USA 829 Booth at the 2024 Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market. The Flea Market, happening on Sunday, Sept. 22, is an annual event raising money in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, an organization that provides essential services for people living with HIV/AIDS and critical illnesses in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C. Each year, USA 829 members donate hundreds of their items and time to this wonderful cause.

Interested in Donating?
We welcome donations representative of all USA 829 crafts across all of our regions in Motion Picture and Live Performance. Help us take our contributions to the next level by donating!

We are looking for:

  • Original sketches
  • Stills, photos, unframed posters, etc from a set or production
  • Film/TV/Theater swag & merchandise
  • Opening night presents
  • Souvenir programs
  • Renderings and small models
  • Historical artifacts of stage & screen
  • Costume or small set pieces (replica or originals)

Note that we are not accepting books! If you bring books, we will ask that you leave with them.

After filling out the Donation Form and receiving approval, you can drop your donations off at the USA 829 temporary office space (44 E 32nd St. 3rd Floor. New York, NY 10016) Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Those outside of New York City or who are unable to drop off their items during business hours are welcome to ship their donation, but please note that we cannot cover shipping costs at this time.

Interested in Volunteering?
We need volunteers before, during, and after the Flea to help make our booth a success!

Before the Flea Market, help us prep! We are looking for prep volunteers for Monday, August 26; Tuesday, August 27; and Friday, September 20. Prep work includes:

  • Wrapping designs into clear acetate paper to protect them and place onto cardboard backing (requires cutting and taping).
  • Stickering and labeling designs
  • Sorting designs into categories
  • Packing items into boxes to prep for transport

During the Flea Market, on Sunday, September 22, volunteers can help staff the table in four shifts:

  • 7:30 AM to 12 PM (loading the truck at the office)
  • 8:30 AM to 1 PM
  • 12:30 PM to 5 PM
  • 4 PM to 7 PM (tear down)

We are, lastly, looking for volunteers to help with Post-Flea Market organization on Monday, September 23 from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Can't make the entirety of a shift, but still want to help? No worries! Join as you can and leave when you must. Non-USA 829 members are also invited to volunteer with us (so, invite your students).

Please note that volunteers who sign up for pre- and post-flea market shifts will be given first preference to help us at the table on the day of the Flea Market!

If you have any questions or concerns, email our Local USA 829 Broadway Cares Flea Market organizers Katie Kupferberg and Coby Chasman-Beck at bcefa@usa829.org.
