This class will be a fast paced show and tell discussion of theory and technique for working with 3D in Vectorworks for scenic and lighting designers. Participants should already be familiar and comfortable working in Vectorworks 2D and ideally with the basic concepts of 3D e.g Extruding. Topics will include: Building complicated objects and hierarchies, Working with OpenGL and other Renderworks outputs, and a general approach to organizing drawing packets from 3D models. Class will be a demonstration of these techniques - participants wanting to follow along should bring their own laptop with Vectorworks already installed. Other topics and general Q&A will happen as time allows.
This class will be an overview introduction to Evan Alexander's rendering workflow featuring Maxon's Cinema 4D software, the Corona render engine and Photoshop. Topics will include: working with geometry, lighting and materials, cameras and rendering, and finally post processing in Photoshop to finish images. We will also look at bringing 3D models in from Vectorworks for further detail and enhanced rendering. This introduction will give you a basic insight into a start to finish pipeline and touch on the major areas and concepts of creating visuals for the entertainment industry. The class will be demonstration based, but those wanting to follow along themselves can download the free demos from Maxon: https://www.maxon.net/en-us/try/demo-download/ and Corona Renderer: https://corona-renderer.com/ however, this is not required for the class.
