This two-day workshop will cover the fundamentals of Vectorworks CAD software and establish best practices for drafting in a theatrical context. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional drafting will be explored. Emphasis will be placed on efficient workflows, process and resource management. Interaction with collaborators drafting by hand, in AutoCAD, and other software will be discussed. This course is designed for all users, from those who have experience with Vectorworks who want to learn more about best practices, to those who are complete beginners and aren’t sure where to begin.
Seághan McKay is a Boston-based projection designer whose work has been showcased in many of the historic city’s greatest performance venues. Among them are The Boston Opera House, The Shubert Theater, Boston Symphony Hall, The Paramount Theatre, The Boston University Theatre, and numerous others. Seághan’s designs have earned him five award nominations from the Independent Reviewers of New England in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Seághan received the 2017 IRNE Award for Best Projection Design for the Lyric Stage production of Sondheim on Sondheim and the 2018 IRNE Award for Best Projection Design for the New Repertory Theatre production of Golda’s Balcony.
