Course Description:

Do we care anymore?  And why should we?  AKA: how to communicate and get what we want.

Three consecutive 4-hour sessions will cover tools of the trade; starting a project; sequence and layout of drawings; techniques of drawing; geometry; starting small and working up to detailing; axonometric sketching; notations; modifications & revisions and much more.  All of this will be relevant for film or theatre (allowing for some differences which we can discuss as required). We will also practice how to adapt hand drafting for our current digital printers.  Although it is nice to have a beautiful drafting board set up - it's not about the parallel. It is about proportion and developing a drawing, so we will work old school - T squares, pencil & paper and the most important - an eraser.  By the end you will know the basics to be able to draft your show, your set, your furniture.  After that…how do you get to Carnegie Hall?
