Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the current Projection Design Special Membership Program. Please use the links below to download the following four (4) documents:
United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, will be accepting applications beginning in December, 2008, and will continue through December 6, 2010. The purpose of this special program is to accept applications from designers working professionally on Projection Design for live performance and events who wish to be part of this new category of membership. We would like to welcome all qualified working designers who desire membership into the Local so that they may begin to share in the advantages of Union membership, as do their colleagues in the other design disciplines.
To be eligible for this program, you must have a minimum of two (2) years’ professional experience working on Projection Designs for live performance or events.
Applicants must submit a résumé and a minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation from persons with whom they have worked and who are willing to recommend them for membership. Two (2) recommendations must come from designers with whom applicants have worked (current members of USA 829, preferably) and one (1) recommendation may come from industry professionals outside of USA 829, such as a Producer, Director or other employer.
A reduced Initiation Fee of $500 plus additional IATSE dues and fees (approximately $297) will be granted to applicants entering the Local via this special program. Those accepted under this program will be required to attend an Orientation Meeting, and are encouraged to attend Health & Safety Training sessions when periodically made available.
